Downtown Westminster, once host to both Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War, provides a unique shopping, dining and cultural experience within a small-town atmosphere.
The Main Street is pedestrian-friendly, with sidewalks, mature shade trees and brick crosswalks. A broad mix of local retail and service establishments, including numerous regionally recognized specialty shops, makes Westminster a shopper’s dream.
Special events are an important part of life in downtown Westminster, whether they are parades, lunchtime or evening concerts, art shows or street fairs. They are a way to familiarize everyone with all that Main Street and downtown Westminster has to offer.
The Carroll County Farm Museum, a major Carroll County destination, is in Westminster and is the location for the annual Maryland Wine Festival.
