Mount Airy

Centrally located between Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Frederick, Mount Airy is a growing community with a rich history rooted in railroad transportation and the Civil War. One can quickly become enamored with downtown Mount Airy and its small town charm, quaint old buildings, and welcoming atmospheres that take you back to a time long past.

Mount Airy’s historic Pine Grove Cemetery includes the graves of civil war soldiers, townspeople and the grave of the inventor of the first digital computer, John Vincent Atanasoff.

There are a number of local events each month you won’t want to miss. If you visit during late March or early April, you could be part of the Chili Cook-off or Mount Airy’s Smoke’n BBQ Showdown; if you visit during early December, you will have the opportunity to experience Mount Airy’s Old-Fashioned Main Street Christmas, a growing favorite among residents and visitors alike.
