Frostburg

Eight miles west of Cumberland in Allegany County on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad route, historic Frostburg is best known as the home of Frostburg State University.

The university is actually part of Frostburg’s Mountain City Arts and Entertainment District. Like Cumberland, the Appalachian town of Frostburg has emerged as an arts destination.
At the Princess Restaurant, a Frostburg tradition since 1939, look for the booth with a small brass plaque where Harry Truman and his wife Bess sat in 1953.

Frostburg State’s Cultural Events Series presents big-time live entertainment – theater, jazz and a wide range of special events – that draws from the tri-state area.
