Decoy Museum Havre de Grace
Located in downtown Havre de Grace on the banks of the Susquehanna River, The Decoy Museum houses the most extensive collection of working and decorative Chesapeake Decoys. Open since 1986, The Decoy Museum is an exciting place to spend the day learning about the history of waterfowling on the Susquehanna Flats. You can explore the museum on your own or take a guided tour.
Exhibit areas include:
- “What is a Decoy?” Where you can learn about how decoys are used and how Havre de Grace became the Decoy Capital of the World.
- “Gunning the Flats” Where you can learn the history of waterfowling in the area and how it spurred the local economy and culture.
- “Honoring the Masters” This exhibit, which spans an entire floor, features hundreds of decoys that were handcrafted by the masters of the trade.
- “The R. Madison Mitchell Carving Workshop” Features original artifacts and tools that world renowned decoy carver R. Madison Mitchell used while creating decoys in Havre de Grace.
Museum Hours: Monday to Saturday from 10:30am – 4:30pm and Sundays from 12:00pm – 4:00pm
